School Wellness Program

Petoskey School Wellness Program


The Petoskey School Wellness Program is a collaboration of the Public Schools of Petoskey and Alcona Health Center supported through funding from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS).

This program offers Behavioral Health and Nursing services in both the Petoskey Middle and High Schools. Our Registered Nurse provides nursing assessments and screening services, as well as care for acute and chronic needs of students. Our Licensed Behavioral Health Therapist offers individual and group therapy to help students with a variety of concerns including anxiety, depression, attention and school performance issues, and well as giving support for difficulties with adjustment to stressors they may be facing.

For parents/guardians to complete. This paperwork needs to be completed before we can see your child.

Christine Carpenter, LMSW is a Behavioral Health Therapist. She earned her Bachelor's of Arts in Psychology from Colorado College before going on to achieve a Master's in Social Work from the University of Illinois at Chicago, Jane Addams College of Social Work. Her professional interest and specialties include - treating children, teens and families, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems Therapy and Trauma Informed Therapy. She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and the Academy of Certified Social Workers.

Misty Jakeway, RN is the School Nurse for the Petoskey Wellness Program. She will be seeing students at both Petoskey Middle School and Petoskey High School. Misty Jakeway earned an Associates Degree in Nursing and Bachelor of Science Degrees in Biomedical Sciences and Secondary Education (Biology). She then went on to achieve a Masters of Science - Nursing degree from Walden University. She is a member of the AACN and ANCC.
