In the
Petoskey High School auto shop we strive to provide the closest to a real world
experience as possible. This includes
working on customer vehicles as there is no other way to duplicate the rust
related issues Northern Michigan driving brings. It is also our belief that in many cases,
replacing truly worn components provides a better learning experience for
students than removing a part just to reinstall on a non-road going
vehicle. To keep with this theme, we
need customers. We try to provide work
in the shop relevant to the current unit of study and as a result, reserve the
right to decline any work that does not fit our curriculum. The auto shop is a learning environment and
progress is significantly slower than would be experienced in any production
shop.
