Dear Families,

It is truly an honor to serve you as the new Principal of Lincoln Elementary School.  After ten years in education, seven as a member of the PHS science department, I can say without a doubt that there is no where I would rather be than working with the talented staff and students of Lincoln Elementary!  Comprised of nearly 250 students from Petoskey and the surrounding area, the diversity of our student body creates a rich palate from which to build successes of all kind.  Our students are creative problem-solvers, artistic, articulate, athletic, musically literate, and good stewards of each other, our school, and our community.  Margaret Mead once said “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”  I have no doubt that our students are being prepared to positively impact our world and that we will watch them with honor, tackle the great challenges of the 21st century.

I am enthusiastic about this career change, but more importantly, I am eager to work with staff, students, and parents to expand upon the tradition of excellence for which Lincoln is known.  I am reminded daily in the work of our students, what is possible when opportunity, passion, and preparation collide.  Success is powerful, contagious…and necessary.  I am dedicated, as are the nearly 20 educators and professional staff at Lincoln Elementary, to building a climate of teaching and learning that fosters success for all students.  There is great potential in each student to do great work and it is the mark of a great school to find and nurture that within each child.  As a parent of 6 year-old Annie and 3 year-old Emmett, I understand the trust and faith parents put in their schools to care about the dreams and hopes of their children and to challenge and guide them to be the best possible version of themselves. We encourage and invite you to be our partners on the road from good to great at Lincoln Elementary.  I am thankful each day for the opportunity to provide you with true blue service.

Oval: Respectfully,

Julie M. Bergmann
