Veggie Car Proposal – 1st Quarter Alternative Assessment

Purpose:  The purpose of this assignment/assessment is to develop a three-phase proposal/bid that uses both innovation and invention to create the “ultimate green car.”  Current technology (Power Point, Front Page, Flash, Video - Combination) must be used to present the proposal to the class/judges with the following guidelines.  (Groups of 3 or less)

Presentation Date: Monday, November 5th

Phase 1:  “Fossil fuel efficiency”

With a $500 maximum budget, create the most fossil fuel efficient car possible

1)      No alteration of current fuel system

2)      No alteration of body frame

3)      Simplicity in design and implementation

Phase 2:  “Fossil fuels forgotten”

With a $750 maximum budget, create a car that is not reliant on fossil fuels.

1)      Current fuel system lines must be used

2)      No alteration of engine, injectors, current set-up

3)      Simplicity in design and implementation

Phase 3:   “The Green Machine”

With a $2000 budget, create a car that is designed to attract attention, promote “green” and serves as a billboard for science/autos education within Petoskey Public Schools.

1)      Present themes of “Green” and  “Petoskey Public Schools”

2)      Promotes car website

3)      Entertains while attracting attention

4)      Shows creativity, innovation and simplicity

Persuasive Presentation

Using current technology and within a timeframe of 4 minutes – 30 seconds, your group must present your three phase proposal to the judges.  Technology must be an integral part of your presentation as the proposals will be displayed on the car website.

Required elements

1)      Each group member must orally present one phase of proposal

2)      Three page (8.5” X 11”) /double sided/stapled proposal highlights must be presented to judges prior to presentation. 

3)      Presentation must be burned on C.D. for further grading and attachment to car website

4)      Follow attached rubric for persuasive presentation

Use of Technology
